Can I run the file this produces?
Check it first. The Xilog side of the conversion is well grounded: the dialect is the one the reference programs use, and a program written out and compiled still matches a file a machine was known to run. The woodWOP side is the newer half, so compare the converted program against the drawing, and dry-run it before cutting.
What happens to the variables in my program?
They are worked out and the resulting numbers written. The converted file no longer carries the names, so it is fixed at the size the variables gave. If you need another size, change it in woodWOP and convert again.
Why was my file refused?
Most often because it holds an operation this converter does not read yet, such as a pocket, a groove or a sawing cycle. The report names the macro and the line. Nothing is left out silently, because a panel that comes back missing an operation is worse than one that does not convert.
Why are the depths different numbers?
They are the same depths written the other way up. woodWOP states the height of material left under a cut; Xilog states the depth of the cut. Six millimetres into an eighteen millimetre panel is written as twelve in one and six in the other.
What happens to my drilling?
Each hole becomes a boring line naming a spindle. woodWOP chooses bits by diameter and this dialect chooses spindles by number, so a hole that gives only a diameter cannot be converted until a tool number is set. Rows of holes are written out one hole at a time.
Does it read a file exported from woodWOP itself?
It reads the blocks, formulas and macros described above. A woodWOP export also carries tuning parameters for a particular machine, which are read and ignored where they do not change the geometry. Anything that would change it is named instead.
Do you keep my file?
The file and the converted result are kept for 90 days, which is how the converters get better: a real program that converts badly is the only way to find out that it does. Nothing is shared unless you ask for a link.
